WELCOME to Monikie Angling Club.
"Probably the best value fly fishing in Scotland"!
Formed in 1976, the club is located in Monikie Country Park, a few miles from Dundee.
If you’re searching for some of the best trout fly fishing in the East of Scotland – and beyond – you've come to the right place.
Session dates and times are posted below.
Boat prices are published here.
You can join/rejoin the club by downloading our Season 2021 application form.
To book a boat, please phone the Bailiff on 01382 370300, any day, 8.30 am – 10.30 am, 1.00 pm – 1.30 pm and 4.30 pm – 6.30 pm (later time during double sessions only).
There is disabled parking at the Bailiff’s hut at the Island Pond for the use of Blue Badge holders, and anglers who have been issued, a Club Parking Permit.
Other anglers – members and visitors – may also park here if space allows. If not, anglers can drive down, drop off their gear, then drive back to the public car park.
Barrows are also available to transport your stuff from the public car park to the jetty.

* The parks are administered by ANGUSalive and provide a large variety of facilities.

Boat fishing only

The Club provides fly fishing for brown and rainbow trout in two ponds – they’re known as ponds but are huge loch-size stretches of water. The bailiff's hut is located beside the Island Pond in Monikie Country Park.
We have 18 boats (12 on the Island Pond, 6 on the North) available to members and visitors; including visiting clubs.
Anglers are welcome to use their own electric outboard motors, but none are available for hire.

Please note it is fly fishing only. No bank fishing is permitted. Please also note that only club boats can be used for angling, and no anchoring is permitted.
Also, anglers must wear a lifejacket at all times while on the water. This can be their own, or one provided by the club. See conditions below.

1/2 day mornings will be from 9 am – 12.30.
1/2 day afternoons from 1 pm – 4.30.

All anglers should observe social distancing, tackle up in the boats and avoid gathering in groups around the hut.
Masks should be worn until you are in your boat.
The bailiff's will disinfect the boats and lifejackets.

Full session boats can be booked up to 14 days in advance, half day session boats, one day in advance. Single angler boats, two days in advance.
Lifejackets must be worn on top of clothing at all times. You can wear your own, provided it is activated automatically by a CO2 device and you have signed our Disclaimer form, or they are available free of charge at the Bailiff's hut.

There are some big fish in the Monikie waters with last season's heaviest weighing in at 6 lb 15 oz.
One thing that is certain about all of Monikie's fish – they are all high quality, fully finned, hard fighting trout.

To paraphrase a well know TV advert, club members widely consider Monikie to offer:

“Probably the best value fishing in Scotland”
